Increased SLC Survivability in One Convenient Location: Introducing the ISO-6/ISO-6A Six-Output Isolator Module

March 11, 2015 — Fire-Lite Alarms is pleased to announce the new ISO-6/ISO-6A six-output isolator module. The ISO-6/ISO-6A is similar to the I300(A) single isolator module, but in a convenient format that allows for six isolation circuits on a single board. That makes it ideal for larger installations where many points of isolation are required on a signaling line circuit (SLC).

Using isolator modules is a convenient way to increase the survivability of the fire alarm system and also meet local codes.

Each of the six circuits on the ISO-6/ISO-6A serves as an automatic switch that opens when the line voltage drops below a certain level, indicating a short circuit, and automatically restores when proper voltage is restored.

Isolator modules should be spaced between groups of detectors or modules to ensure that the entire loop is not compromised in the event of a short-circuit condition. If a short does occur between any two isolators, then both isolators immediately switch to an open-circuit state and isolate the devices between them. The remaining devices on the loop will continue to operate without interruption.

The ISO-6/ISO-6A is compatible with Fire-Lite’s MS-9050UD, MS-9200UDLS, MS-9600LS, and the MS-9600UDLS series of addressable fire alarm control panels. To learn more about the ISO-6/ISO-6A Six Isolator Module, see datasheet DF-60845-A. Note: ISO-6A is available in Canada only.
