GAF Introduces M-Thane One-Part Pourable Sealant

Parsippany, N.J. — Jan. 29, 2015 — GAF is proud to introduce an improvement to its M-Curb System for pitch pans, offering an innovative moisture-cure polyether solution that requires no mixing, a resealable container, less waste, and better elongation than similar products.

GAF’s M-Thane One-Part Pourable Sealant is a moisture cure polyether sealant designed for use with the M-Curb Pitch-Pan System in built-up and modified bitumen roof systems.

With no mixing required, contractors can more quickly and efficiently apply the product, saving valuable time and money, while creating less waste.

Since moisture-cure sealants cure with moisture in the air, it is suitable for application in damp and cold as well as dry climates. It also offers excellent adhesion to most construction materials and accommodates greater movement than typical urethane sealants.

M-Thane One-Part Pourable Sealant is solvent-free with less than 25g/I VOC and does not “outgas” or bubble up on damp surfaces as urethane sealants can. Made up of 100 percent solids, it will not shrink. It can be applied at temperatures as low as 30°F (-1°C), and is self-leveling, providing a smooth, professional look. The product has a 20-minute skin-over time and is paintable within 24 hours.

“Our new M-Thane One-Part Pourable Sealant saves contractors time and money. You no longer have to spend time mixing and there is less waste than a two-part product. You can re-seal the tube by simply placing the cut off tip back into the nozzle. If sealed properly the tube can last for months,” said Lee Martucci, product manager at GAF.

M-Thane One-Part Pourable Sealant conforms to OTC, CARB, and SCAQMD regulations; contributes to LEED v2009 New Construction & Major Renovations IEQ Credit 4.1: Low-Emitting Materials-Adhesives and Sealants; and secures 5 Global Impact Points as part of the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines.
