RectorSeal® Corp., Houston, a leading manufacturer of quality firestop construction products, introduces Track-Safe™, the construction industry's first deep-leg track firestop steel angle for dynamic head-of-wall joint fire and smoke protection in all commercial buildings. Track-Safe saves up to 50-percent of installation labor versus other firestop methods, because it is approved for installation on just one side of the wall assembly.
Track-Safe is provided in 10-foot length of galvanized steel with 90-degree angle dimensions of 3/4 x 1-1/2 inches and a red coating making it easily identifiable for inspection. An intumescing strip located on the interior edge prevents flame, smoke and hot gas transfer through the wall assembly. Track-Safe is tested in compliance with UL-2079 standard "Testing for Fire Resistance of Building Joint Systems" and with more than 20 UL-listed systems.
Track-Safe installation requires no mechanical fasteners or anchors. Prior to drywall installation, it is friction-fit into the void between the deep leg track and a fluted pan or slab concrete deck by light tapping. The innovative design allows for 100-percent (Class III cycling) compression or extension seismic movement and unencumbered drift movement capabilities in joints of up to 3/4-inch and 100-percent compression in joints up to 1-1/2-inches without compromising the Track-Safe's protection capabilities or reducing the adjacent fire-separation elements' fire rating.
Other benefits of Track-Safe include:
· Installs on only one side of the wall assembly;
· Also works with J-track for shaft walls;
· L-Rating at ambient is less than one-cfm/lin. ft.;
· When using Track-Safe on fluted metal deck, sealant over mineral wool is only applied to one side of the wall assembly;
· Requires no maintenance and is guaranteed for the building's sustainable life;
· Tested and passed under UL-2079 requirements;
· Available in boxes of 20 10-foot-long lengths through wholesale interior finish, and tool/fastener suppliers nationwide;
· Prevents sound transmission through the wall assembly with a 57 STC rating;
