Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies and TagMaster NA Combine Long-Range Read and Smart Card

Users need only one tag for both long range and smart card applications

CARMEL, IN –– Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies announced that both aptiQ™ smart card users and TagMaster North America long range tag users can now combine the features of a long read range tag with the benefits of the highly secure aptiQ MIFARE DESFire™ EV1 smart card to gain access at parking garages, buildings and interior office space.

“It is literally two tag technologies in one. For example, TagMaster’s 2.45 GHz Microwave RFID (radio frequency Identification) technology allows customers to gain hands-free access to a corporate garage that utilizes TagMaster’s long-range RFID readers with read ranges up to 46 feet,” emphasizes Ali Khaksar, TagMaster North America’s president.  “The encapsulated aptiQ technology can be used for all personal access to the building or office, even clocking into the time and attendance system.”

The aptiQ smart card utilizes extra layers of security protection such as mutual authentication, AES 128-bit diversified key encryption, and message authentication coding (MAC) to provide the industry’s highest security to each transaction between a contactless smart credential and reader.

“Combining Ingersoll Rand’s aptiQ smart card technology with TagMaster’s long-range identification technology into one tag provides the end-user with the convenience of using a single tag for dual purposes,” explains Diane Kehlenbeck, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies director of technology alliances. “Since the open architecture design of aptiQ smart card technology is built to ISO 14443 standards, end users can also add applications to the tag such as biometrics and logical access.”

Long range vehicle access controls are needed in multiple applications by a variety of users including universities and schools, hospitals and clinics, public transit authorities, utility

fleet companies, commercial residential properties, airports and shipping ports, private/gated communities, businesses, government and military installations, and hotels and condominiums.

The new capabilities of combining long range vehicle access control with smart card benefits are now available by contacting either Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies or TagMaster North America.
