HI-MACS brings seamless style and safety to healthcare facilities
ATLANTA – Recently, Children’s Mercy Hospital faced numerous casework issues in its high-traffic dental clinic where its cabinetry and counters often got wet. With its casework’s peeling laminate, damaged bases and discoloration, the facility staff realized it could become a health risk to patients.
To provide its healthcare customers with the most durable and hygienic material for their casework, Shield Casework partnered with HI-MACS®, the American-made, innovative solid surface by LG Hausys, for several of its hospital applications.
Using HI-MACS solid surface, Shield Casework designed a seamless integrated sink and cabinet for Children’s Mercy Hospital that is nonporous, anti-bacterial and requires virtually no maintenance.
With its new casework in both its dental clinic and cafeteria, Children’s Mercy Hospital no longer has to worry about repair or safety concerns.
Just last month, Shield Casework showcased its casework designs made with HI-MACS at NeoCon. “Everyone who saw the casework immediately understood the benefits,” says Stephen Hopkins, director of innovations for Shield Casework.
Thanks to its thermo-formability, HI-MACS is able to offer healthcare architects and designers unlimited design potential. HI-MACS is ideal for everything from the most modern, architectural designs to classic styles. Its versatility is endless.
HI-MACS and Shield Casework both offer their respective category’s longest warranties: HI-MACS’ material warranty is 15 years, and Shield Casework’s cabinet warranty is five years.
“From the 40-foot tall abstract sculpture in front of the hospital to the anti-microbial cabinet solution that is Shield Casework, HI-MACS can be used to bring any healthcare designer’s inspiration to life while providing the utmost protection against infections and wear and tear,” says Michelle Rhee, marketing manager for HI-MACS.
