Dur-A-Flex Launches New UV Resistant Urethane Topcoat

Topcoat formulation gives urethane flooring a continuous, competitive edge in food, pharma and chemical industries

EAST HARTFORD, CONN. – Dur-A-Flex, Inc., a leading manufacturer of commercial, industrial and institutional seamless, resinous flooring, today announced the addition of Poly-Crete® Color-Fast topcoat to its already popular line of cementitious urethane flooring systems. Formulated to retain its color throughout the life of the floor, this UV-resistant topcoat is a critical component in the Poly-Crete® flooring system, found most notably in food, beverage, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
“A topcoat with this level of durability is a ‘must have’ in the markets it is used in,” says Ron Phillips, product manager at Dur-A-Flex. “It provides an excellent wear surface, excels in color stability and its unique texture helps to greatly reduce the risk of slip and fall incidents in both wet and dry environments,” he concludes.
In food environments, wide temperature swings occurring in a short period of time such as during hot water discharges from boilers, kitchen equipment or steam cleaning can have an adverse effect on the adhesion of synthetic flooring materials. By having a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to concrete substrates, Poly-Crete systems virtually eliminate the risks, unlike many other types of flooring. And the Poly-Crete system helps facility owners avoid the risk of floor failure that’s typically caused by surface erosion from chemicals, lactic acids and food-borne bacteria, commonly found in food environments.
For Dur-A-Flex approved installers, the workability is a key factor. “Poly-Crete Color-Fast is formulated to install quickly and consistently,” says Phillips.
Named one of the “Best Places to Work in CT” for the fourth time by the Hartford Business Journal-sponsored awards program, Dur-A-Flex is a privately-held, leading manufacturer of quality epoxy, urethane, methyl methacrylate and colored aggregates offering a complete line of high performance polymer flooring and wall systems. The versatile seamless applications provide improved safety, minimal downtime and easy maintenance to all industries. To learn more about Dur-A-Flex, visit www.dur-a-flex.com.
