Acuity Brands Lighting and BlueScope Buildings Sign Exclusive Agreement to Provide Daylighting

ATLANTA – Acuity Brands, Inc. (NYSE: AYI), a market leader in innovative energy-efficient lighting, lighting controls, and daylighting solutions, has announced an exclusive agreement between Acuity Brands Lighting and BlueScope Buildings North America to provide a daylighting solution for standing seam metal roofing systems. The solution is a patent pending curbless metal building attachment system incorporating Sunoptics® high-performance prismatic skylights. The Sunoptics skylight used is the patented Signature Series.

The curbless daylighting system is designed for direct attachment to new or existing structural standing seam roofing systems and is designed to maintain the structural integrity of the roofing system. The integrated rail attachment, which attaches to the roof’s structural standing seam, allows the system to move with roof expansion and contraction. A single-sided front-end water diverter minimizes roof penetrations and leak potential.

Ease of installation is a key feature of the product. The daylighting of new and existing standing seam metal buildings with the curbless daylighting system is more cost effective than conventional solutions and minimizes concerns of leaking present with such standard products.

“The curbless daylighting system, featuring the Sunoptics Signature Series Skylight, provides a unique daylighting solution for buildings with standing seam metal roofs,” said Grant Grable, Vice President and Value Stream Leader, Sunoptics. “In the market of new and existing metal buildings, there has long been a need for a daylighting product that can minimize leak potential and reduce the excessive labor needed to install conventional metal roof curbs. This system provides the solution that solves both needs. We are excited to supply this solution to a world leader in pre-engineered metal buildings.”

The curbless daylighting system is available in 2’ x 5’ and 2’ x 10’ modular sections and is compatible with multiple existing roofing profiles from both Butler Manufacturing and Varco Pruden Buildings.

The curbless daylighting system is available exclusively through BlueScope Buildings sales representatives and authorized distributors.  For more information about Sunoptics high-performance prismatic daylighting solutions, visit Sunoptics and Acuity Brands online at www.sunoptics.com and www.acuitybrands.com.  For more information about BlueScope Buildings and its affiliated brands, visit BlueScope’s website at www.bluescopebuildings.com.
