Case Study and Building Tour of LEED EBOM Silver Certified Building in Downers Grove (*Using Volume Certification)

Program Description:
Join USGBC-Illinois' West Suburban Branch for a building tour and case study of 3500 Lacey Road in Downers Grove where Sara Lee's Headquarters is located. This building received LEED EBOM Silver.
Learn how Hamilton Partners, who manages the 3500 Lacey Road building, took the property through LEED EBOM Volume certification. The presentation will include an overview of the building, how it went through volume certification, the process, comments on working with a consultant, the time-line of the project, statistics on participants and success rates.
LEED EBOM specific discussion to include maximizing water efficiency credits, challenges of undertaking replacement of every toilet in a fully occupied building, the controls afforded by building automation system and energy monitoring software, challenges of achieving purchasing credits in a multi-tenant building, tips on undertaking occupant surveys, and utilizing infrared exterior thermal scans for innovation credit.
The next steps for the building following LEED certification will be discussed, including utilizing trend data to improve waste reduction, implementing commercial composting and encouraging future tenants to pursue LEED for Commercial Interiors.
A bonus for this event - the meeting will take place in a room overlooking the Morton Arboretum with beautiful vistas and a pond with swans.
