There are no truly new ideas. We all get that. Most strategies, tactics, and processes maintenance and engineering managers consider using have been around in one form or another for years.

But that's no reason to stop looking for ways to make your department more productive, sustainable, and cost-conscious. While there might not be new ideas, there are always new ways of making existing ideas better. That's where we come in. Our Maintenance Solutions Achievement Awards achieve a number of goals, and one of them just might be saving your job. How?

Well in addition to allowing managers to turn the spotlight onto their departments' accomplishments, and bringing some much-needed publicity to the maintenance profession, the entries are a treasure trove of ideas — successful ideas — related to financial management, sustainability, personnel management, and renovations and retrofits.

Every entry for the awards program is the result of some organization doing the hard work of developing a program or idea, implementing it, fine-tuning it, working out the kinks, and turning it into success. In every case, so much of the hard work has been done for you.

You just steal the idea, and tailor it to your purposes and organization, and everyone in your department looks like champions. And as organizations continue their efforts to trim the fat in every possible way, looking like champions might make all the difference when it comes to your department's survival.
