Recalled Power Receptacles Pose Burn Hazard

  May 8, 2020

By Naomi Millán

About 685,000 commercial-grade tamper resistant duplex receptacles from Legrand’s Pass & Seymour brand have been recalled due to burn hazard. Users can incorrectly force the plug into the receptacle due to an error in manufacturing, which can lead to overheating of the plug blades. No injuries or incidents have been reported at the time of the recall, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall 20-109.

The recalled receptacles have “Legrand” printed on the back. They were sold between October 2019 and February 2020. The following manufacturing date codes can be found on the outside of the carton: 43U, 44U, 45U, 46U, 47U, 48U, 49U, 50U, 51U, 52U, 53U, 01V, 02V. The following manufacturing date codes may also be found hot-stamped on the back of the receptacles: “MU”, NU”, “PU” and “AV.” Consult the recall notice for a full list of model numbers.

Facility managers affected by this recall should remove receptacles from use, and can request a free replacement or a full refund. Pass & Seymour can be reached at 833-552-0388 or at their website
