Recall: Digital Clamp Meters Pose Electrocution Hazard

Extech digital clamp meters have been recalled because they can fail to give an accurate voltage reading, resulting in the operator falsely believing the electrical power is low or off. This poses an electrocution hazard. The company has received two reports of incorrect voltage readings, but no injuries have been reported, according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall 17-167.
All affected models are AC/DC clamp meters, and are green and orange. Model numbers include EX650, EX655, MA160, MA61, and MA63. The 1,700 affected units have serial numbers in the following format: R15XXXXXXX to R17XXXXXXX.
