Dead Body Found After Toilet Malfunction at Mall

When facility maintenance went to investigate why an automatic flush valve in a women's restroom at a mall in Canada had stopped working, they discovered the cause was the body of a man wedged in the wall behind the sensor for the toilet, according to CBC reporting.
The body was discovered on Monday morning, April 30, in a fourth floor restroom at the CORE Shopping Centre in downtown Calgary. When the panel for the toilet sensor was removed, workers discovered the body.
Police do not suspect foul play was involved, according to CBC. At first, it was suspected the individual fell into the wall cavity while crawling through an air vent or the ductwork. However, it was determined the man entered the women's restroom on Friday evening, according to the Calgary Herald. The man then climbed on top of a 7-foot-tall pony wall behind the toilets, removed an air vent cover, and entered the wall cavity through the air vent. The pony wall is not connected to the ceiling and has no other access points, according to Calgary Police. It is suspected the man became stuck and died.
