Plumbing Code Change Targets Pipe Insulation

The change to the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Uniform Plumbing Code will ensure hot-water pipes in new commercial buildings and homes are insulated. The change stipulates that pipes be insulated for all new commercial buildings and homes built after 2015. Overall, insulation of hot-water pipes will shorten the amount of time spent waiting for hot water at showers and faucets and cut hot-water waste by 15-30 percent.
