Outsourced Facilities Management Survey Data
October 28, 2010
According to the 2010 FM Pulse Survey of over 1,800 facility management professionals, outsourcing levels stayed the same for 73 percent of respondents, and actually grew for 18 percent. However, only 6 percent of respondents are concerned that their position itself may be outsourced.
Facility management professionals from outsourcing firms reported the highest salaries, with a median salary around $82,000. In-house facility management professionals were close behind, just under $80,000. About 15 percent of outsourced facility management respondents felt good about their job prospects through getting promoted or getting a new job, compared to just under 10 percent for in-house staff. However, outsourced facility management professionals were about twice as likely to have been downsized from a facility job in the past three years than their in-house peers.
