March Is Ladder Safety Month
Organization spotlights free employee training for front-line technicians March 1, 2024
By Dave Lubach, Executive Editor
The American Ladder Safety Institute (ALI) will observe its annual National Ladder Safety Month in March to raise awareness and encourage maintenance and engineering managers to train their front-line technicians annually on safety practices.
Training courses are available at laddersafetytraining.org, where technicians can access the training free year-round through organized curriculum, videos and resource libraries. Managers can register their employees or employees can register on their own.
Courses are designed as entire programs or a la carte to bolster training gaps. A Trainer’s Toolbox dashboard on the website walks users through the process and can help managers track trainees’ progress. Classes are available in English and Spanish and cover single and extension, articulated, mobile and stepladders.
Themes for each week of March are: Week 1 – Training and awareness; Week 2 – Inspection and maintenance; Week 3 – Stabilization, setup and accessories; Week 4 – Safe climbing and positioning.
