The rise of resilience in institutional and commercial facilities has mirrored the growing intensity and frequency of natural disasters and other emergencies that threaten facilities’ operations and occupants. For facility managers, the resilience challenge has meant greater responsibilities related to identifying and assessing risks to facilities, upgrading facilities and infrastructure to ensure a return to operation quickly after and emergency, and vigilance in ensuring facilities remain resilient.
