Maintenance managers in high schools with chemistry laboratories have new guidance in their efforts to ensure the safety of students, staff and other building occupants. The National Institutes for Occupational Safety and Health has published the School Chemistry Laboratory Safety Guide, a 60-page guide for high school science and chemistry laboratories. The free publication provides practical safety information in a checklist format that is designed to be useful to both groups to reduce chemical injuries in a laboratory environment. The guide is available as a free download at the NIOSH web site.
