Fault-Detection Technology Will Spot Early Trouble in Buildings
11/27/2014%>
Fault detection and diagnostics (FDD), a technology used routinely in industrial process control and automotive and aerospace engineering, will be able to rapidly diagnose small problems in buildings and inform human operators before they become bigger problems, according to the Sustainable Energy Systems Group at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. FDD technology can provide guidance even when the data are noisy or incomplete, identify numerous simultaneous faults, and operate in near real-time to reveal those faults quickly.
