APPA will create an ANSI standard for total cost of ownership (TCO) that addresses facilities asset decision making, enabling owners and managers of buildings and facility assets to accurately project financial expenditures throughout a building's life cycle. The proposed APPA 1000: Total Cost of Ownership for Facilities Asset Management, will establish a common framework for owners and managers of facility assets to identify and more effectively track and manage costs of a facility, building, or supporting infrastructure or assets over its full life cycle by using TCO principles.
