DOE To Propose Lighting Standard

The U.S. Department of Energy has filed a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to create a new efficiency standard for light bulbs sold in the United States that would apply to LED and compact fluorescent lights. The department will gather input from the public, stakeholders and industry and is expected to issue a final rule by Jan. 1, 2017. The standard could take effect in 2020.
