IAQ: Commissioning for IAQ
IAQ, commissioning, design intent November 8, 2010
As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention beats the pants off of a pound of cure. When taking on a new or newly renovated facility, in order to stand a fighting chance at providing good indoor air quality (and anything else that was in the design) it is essential to commission.
The way buildings and systems are designed is not necessarily the way they are installed or operated. The only way to make sure the building meets the original design intent, is to have it commissioned.
Commissioning at the outset can verify HVAC component performance, establish a complete set of documentation submittals and initiate an ongoing regimen of proper system operation, maintenance and auditing.
