A new plan announced recently is designed to help owners, developers and general contractors integrate moisture and mold management into their building projects.

The comprehensive Moisture Management Plan introduced by Air Quality Sciences (AQS) aims at preventing indoor mold growth. The plan can be used to earn Greenguard mold protection certification, according to AQS.

Through the plan, moisture management services are provided during the design, construction and occupancy phases of new construction. These include document reviews, on-site inspections, mold and moisture mapping, building clearance testing, training of staff and implementation of continued mold prevention processes.

"Although recognized as vitally important to the success and financial viability of any building project, mold and moisture management can be very challenging. The AQS Moisture Management Plan offers a comprehensive suite of services and expert guidance in a user-friendly program geared to the special needs of the design and construction teams," said Marilyn S. Black, chairman and chief scientist of Air Quality Sciences.
