Generac is recalling its type GP15000E line of portable generators due to a specific hazard that can cause fire and burns. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice, the generators’ fuel tank can fail to vent adequately from the rollover valve, causing the gas tank to build up excess pressure and expel fuel when opened, posing fire and burn hazards.
The generators were sold at home improvement stores between April 2011 and June 2023. Facility managers who purchased the generators should immediately stop using them and contact the manufacturer for a free repair kit.
Generac has received reports of 27 incidents of the generators overheating and pressurizing or expelling fuel when opened, including three incidents resulting in severe burn injuries.
