Hotels offer all kinds of amenities such as free parking and breakfast or loyalty program points and fitness rooms to tempt customers to stay at their properties.
Those kinds of perks do not resonate with guests more than a property’s commitment to sustainability practices and indoor air quality (IAQ) as more important priorities, according to a survey from Fellowes, an air purification provider.
The company surveyed more than 1,100 adults about their thoughts on hotels and IAQ topics. In the poll, according to a press release, 49 percent of respondents noted seeing information about a commitment to sustainability in a guest room. While encouraging news that more people are more interested in sustainability practices, only 30 percent of respondents reported noticing information about a property’s IAQ commitments.
Results of the poll should emphasize to hotel facility managers that clean air should be considered an emphasis on their properties.
“It’s clear from our survey results that hotel guests place high value on the cleanliness of their rooms and the quality of air throughout a property during their stay, rating it above perks that properties will often focus on when marketing a property to potential guests,” says Arti Lyde, global general manager, air quality management, at Fellowes.
