A potential burn or fire hazard is the reason Daikin Comfort Technologies is recalling its line of Amana Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner/Heat Pumps (PTACs). The units being recalled are equipped with the company’s DigiAir module compressor, which can overheat, posing the fire or burn hazard. The DigiAir module compressors are factory-installed components that provide make-up air systems and configurable dehumidification.
The company has received 52 reports of incidents, including 10 fires, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice. No injuries have been reported.
Facility managers should contact Daikin Comfort Technologies for instructions on how to disable the DigiAir module and to arrange for a free repair with a qualified technician.
