Manufacturer Burnham Commerical has recalled its Series 8 EP Natural Gas Boiler and the Series 16H equipped with CSD-1 because a delayed ignition or flame rollout can occur, posing a burn hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice.

These commercial natural gas boilers have the Q3452B2100/B pilot with the 90-degree mounting bracket.

About 185 boilers installed or sold by independent heating and plumbing contractors and wholesale distributors nationwide from June 2020 through November 2022 for between $2,000 and $4,000 are affected by the recall.

Facility managers should immediately stop using the boilers and contact the manufacturer for a repair. To avoid a potential burn hazard, a simple field modification is required for the boilers, which includes installing a new main gas burner with a 60-degree pilot bracket.

There have been two reports of flame rollouts, but no injuries reported.
