Survey Shows Green Strategies Still a Priority
The “2008 Green Survey: Existing Buildings” found that more than 80 percent of respondents have allocated funds for green strategies this year and 45 percent will increase their investment in green in 2009, despite the slowing economy. The second annual survey, conducted by USGBC, the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), and Incisive Media’s Real Estate Forum, polled 251 owners, managers and investors between August and September, 2008. The survey also found that almost 70 percent of respondents implemented some type of benchmarking system to monitor energy usage and efficiency, and 80 percent say that their energy efficiency efforts have helped defray rising energy costs.
