The development of advanced microprocessor boiler controls also has resulted in improved seasonal operating efficiency. The demand for high-efficiency operation has led more manufacturers to adopt controls.

As a result, today’s boiler-control systems use complex controllers to monitor supply- and return-water temperatures, adjusting the output of the boiler to closely match the building’s heating load. The more closely the boiler matches the actual heating load, the higher the operating efficiency.

Advanced electronic controls also make it much simpler to integrate the boiler with the facility’s building automation system. Integration allows operators to monitor, adjust and control multiple boiler operations from a central location. Integration also makes it much easier to detect and correct minor problems before they affect operations or develop into more serious issues.
