Feds Warn of ‘Imminent’ Cyber Threat to Healthcare Facilities
November 12, 2020
The FBI, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and the Department of Health and Human Services are warning that — with the increase in COVID-19 cases — healthcare facilities are being aggressively targeted by hackers, according to the Government Technology website.
Some two dozen hospitals have already been hit.
The agencies have jointly published a warning about an "imminent and increased cybercrime threat to U.S. hospitals and healthcare providers" in a recent advisory.
Some experts believe the source of the attack is a Russian threat group known as Wizard Spider. The group is known to deploy the trojan malware Trickbot and Ryuk ransomware.
