$77 Million Renovation of Detroit's Sinai-Grace Hospital Finished

  September 14, 2015

Construction is complete of the third and final phase of the $77 million renovation of the Detroit Medical Center's Sinai-Grace Hospital in northwest Detroit.

The final phase included construction of a new main entrance, an 18,000-square-foot lobby and a 24,000-square-foot radiology department.

The new main entrance — constructed of glass, burnished block and brick — was designed to be a reflective glass box during the day and to glow like a lantern at night. It is nearly three times larger than before and features Life Trees, a three-piece sculpture by the Detroit Design Center LLC.

The hospital is also renovating and expanding a clinical laboratory, which is set to be completed in December.
