  September 8, 2015

MountainView Hospital in Las Vega is planning a $90 million expansion project that will include the addition of 64 beds, the expansion of women's services, the upgrade of the neonatal intensive care unit, the expansion of the emergency department and a new medical office building.

Construction on a vertical expansion to the hospital's south tower will begin later this year. The first phase of construction includes adding a fourth and fifth floor with 32 private rooms per floor.

The first-floor expansion also will include the addition of new diagnostic imaging and intervention technology to treat the most complex neurological and stroke conditions. The project will increase the number of labor and delivery beds to 12 and increase the number of beds for post-partum recovery to 32.

The expansion is part of a building boom of health care facilities taking place in Southern Nevada. When completed, hospital expansions at MountainView, St. Rose Dominican — Siena campus, Southern Hills and Spring Valley, and the construction of Henderson Hospital will add more than 400 beds to acute care facilities in Southern Nevada.
