Utility Tractors Recalled Due to Risk of Injury
September 29, 2021
John Deere’s Compact Utility Tractors are being recalled due to a manufacturing error that may cause a rear wheel to fall off, risking injury to users.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, rear wheel spacer bolts were torqued incorrectly, which can cause the wheel to fall off during use. This can result in the tractor overturning. Luckily, so far, no injuries have been reported.
This recall involves John Deere compact utility tractors with model numbers 4044M, 4044R, 4052M, 4052R, 4066M or 4066R printed on the hood. To check if your model is eligible, locate the serial number located on the frame on the front right side of the machine near the engine that begins with 1LV. Then check it against the manufacturer’s recall serial number list on this website. If you have one of these models, you should stop use immediately and take the product to a John Deere dealer for inspection and repair.
