RECALL: Utility Vehicle Poses Crash Hazard

  January 11, 2018

By Naomi Millán

John Deere Crossover Gator utility vehicles have been recalled because the steering shaft can separate from the steering rack assembly, resulting in loss of vehicle steering control. Nine incidents of steering loss have been reported to John Deere, with no injuries resulting from the incidents, according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall number 18-709.

The recall affects about 68,300 units across John Deere Crossover Gator utility vehicle models XUV825, XUV825 S4, XUV855, and XUV855 S4 equipped with power steering. Both two-and four-passenger models are recalled. Recalled units were sold between March 2012 and November 2017.

Facility managers affected by this recall are directed to stop using the recalled vehicles and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair.
