A manufacturing error on a John Deere riding lawn tractor’s wheel hubs creates a specific hazard that can cause the tractor to crash and injure its users. The wheel hubs were not manufactured to specifications, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice, causing the tractor to lose propulsion and braking, posing a crash hazard.
The recall applies to John Deer lawn tractor models x380 and x390. Facility managers and grounds crews should immediately stop using the lawn tractors and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair. The tractors being recalled were purchased at John Deere dealers between April and May 2022.
There have been three reports of lawn tractors not braking properly. One resulted in bruises and abrasions.
