DR Power Equipment is recalling its line of tow-behind field and brush mowers due to a defect that can cause a potential burn or fire hazard. In the units being recalled, the exhaust pipe can break off due to excessive heat, causing the hazard. According to the Consumer Product Safey Commission’s recall notice, this issue is especially prevalent in the presence of dry cuttings or spent fuel.
The mowers being recalled are branded either DR Power Equipment or Generac and were purchased at authorized DR Power Equipment dealers from November 2015 through April 2021.
Facility managers should stop using the defective mowers and contact DR Power Equipment for a prorated refund or credit toward new equipment. The prorated refund or credit will be determined based on the age of the unit.
There have been 14 reports of fires causing damage to the mowers so far due to the defect.
