A line of wood chippers is being recalled by manufacturer DR Power Equipment due to a malfunction that can cause severe injury.

The fin scroll piece on the equipment can fail, and eject pieces of metal from the chipper shredder hopper during operation, posing risk of laceration hazard, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall notice.

The manufacturer is contacting known purchaser to ship a repair kit. Facility managers can also take their equipment to a registered dealer for a free repair.

The chippers being recalled were sold between September 2019 and September 2022 at DR Power Equipment dealers. There have been six reports of this specific malfunction, but thankfully, no reports of injuries.
