The lawn mower engines used in Ferris and Cub Cadet Pro zero-turn mowers have been recalled because they pose a fire and burn hazard. The fuel injector can leak excessive amounts of fuel into the engine. No incidents or injuries have yet been reported to the manufacturer, Kawasaki, according to U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall number 20-703.
The recall involves the engines used in Ferris IS 2100Z ZTR and Cub Cadet Pro Z 760 LKW EFI mowers. The recalled engines are model year 2017 and 2018 Kawasaki FX850V-EFI series, including models FX850V-AS44 with serial number range FX850VB19736-FX850VB44147 and FX850V-AS47 with serial number range FX850VB20733-FX850VB40776.
About 950 of the recalled engines were sold between June 2017 through August 2019. Facility managers affected by the recall should stop using the lawn mowers involved and contact Kawasaki for a free repair.
