President Biden Announces Electric Vehicle Goal, Improved Fuel Efficiency Standard

President Biden signed an executive order setting a goal of half of all new cars sold in the U.S. to be electric by 2030. Currently, only about 2 percent of vehicles sold in the US are electric. The initiative, which was announced along with increased fuel efficiency standards, is part of Biden’s goal of reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030.

One of the major hurdles to accomplishing Biden’s ambitious EV goal will be implementing and scaling the necessary charging infrastructure. How will EV charging stations be deployed on a wide and equitable scale?

For facility managers, deploying EV charging stations in their buildings can be challenging. But increasingly, whether in an owner-occupied or multi-tenant building, EV charging stations are seen as an occupant perk. At a time now when convincing employees to return to the office is difficult, any perk can help.

A recent FacilitiesNet article gives four tips on how building owners and facility managers can add EV charging stations to existing parking garage facilities.
