A 1.2 million-square-foot office tower in Chicago’s West Loop has received the prestigious Platinum Certification with the International WELL Building Standard. It is the largest WELL Platinum facility in the U.S. The building at 150 North Riverside, which opened in 2017, has also received WELL Health-Safety Rating certification, LEED Gold certification, and Energy Star certification.
The 54-story building opened in 2017, uses only 25 percent of its lot, with the remaining 75 percent containing outdoor seating, an amphitheater, a park and a riverwalk.
In addition to an indoor fitness center and ample space for bike storage, the facility includes a massive public art display in its lobby known as 150 Media Stream, which includes 89 LED “blades” stretched over 150 feet long and 22 feet high.
The building is also unique for its narrow concrete base that then expands outward, giving it the nickname “The Tuning Fork.” The building’s design has won numerous design awards and received high praise from architecture critics for its unique aesthetics.
