GreenTech Expo: A Show of — and for — Sustainability

By MS Editorial Staff

Have you ever heard of an Annual Sustainability Report? You soon will soon, as more publicly held companies publish their environmental practices and goals alongside their annual reports. In the private sector, scrutiny on new and existing facilities’ environmental scorecards also is increasing.

This change translates into more responsibilities for facility professionals who play a role in their organizations’ progress toward greener facilities that use less energy and minimize their environmental impacts.

This spring, the inaugural GreenTech Expo will take place in Baltimore. It will provide facilities managers market with technical and product information to help them create more environmentally friendly existing and new buildings.

GreenTech Expo will take place March 20-22 at the Baltimore Convention Center. It will be co-located with the Maintenance Solutions Expo (MS Expo) and the National Facilities Management & Technology Conference/Exposition (NFM&T), the nation’s fastest-growing event for facilities management.

Educational sessions will focus on the evolution of green buildings into high-performance buildings — facilities that use a variety of technologies in lighting, automation and HVAC systems to contribute to an energy-efficient and healthy bottom line. The event also will focus on green building components that impact building design, construction and operations.

“GreenTech sessions will give attendees the opportunity to explore the impact of sustainable products and practices within the context of facilities management,” said Wendy Loerch, director of education for GreenTech. “By providing this information alongside the current roster of MS Expo and NFM&T sessions, attendees will have access to an incomparable array of valuable information that is offered at no charge.”

Maintenance, Center Stage

For the third year in a row, thousands of facilities professionals nationwide will converge in Baltimore for the Maintenance Solutions Expo (MS Expo). Held at the city’s convention center, MS Expo will run in

conjunction with the National Facilities Management & Technology Conference/Exposition from March 20-22.

The largest show in the profession, MS Expo and NFM&T offer unparalleled educational and networking opportunities, including:

  • 90 hours of free seminars organized in 11 tracks for a custom-built curriculum
  • a general session titled “Bird Flu: Risk and Response” offering input from scientific and facility-management communities, providing attendees a lively debate on the science of bird flu and insights into developing a facility’s response to a potential pandemic
  • the innovative Solutions Exchange speed-learning session that allows

participants to interact with their peers in a round-robin approach and discuss critical topics.

“One of our goals at MS Expo is to deliver a difference, and our free, high-caliber educational conference definitely sets us apart,” says Wendy Loerch,

director of education for the event. “Under one roof, MS Expo attendees will find more information than at all other industry events combined. From

technology-oriented sessions on HVAC and energy to strategic approaches to staff development and time management, the conference is structured to allow a personalized educational program.”
