'Green' School Groups Announce Partnership



The Greenguard Environmental Institute (GEI) has announced an agreement with the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) to recognize its Greenguard Children & Schools Product Certification Program as a strategy for supporting the CHPS Best Practices Manual for K-12 schools.

The Greenguard Environmental Institute (GEI) has announced an agreement with the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) to recognize its Greenguard Children & Schools Product Certification Program as a strategy for supporting the CHPS Best Practices Manual for K-12 schools. 

Recognizing the sensitivities of school-aged children and the unique characteristics of the classroom environment, GEI launched the program in September 2005 to provide K-12 schools clear guidance on selecting products that have been tested for chemical emissions. The certification program has gained the attention of school product manufacturers and the K-12 building community. To date, more than 30,000 products have been certified, and more than 20 manufaucturers promote their certified products with the Greenguard Children & Schools mark.
