Unexpected problems are constant in facility management. Yet, facility executives have found ways to manage them all the same. Whether it’s pandemics, labor shortages or rising costs, the professionals in this field have proven resilient and resourceful.
2025 seems to be no different. The new year is starting off with its own uncertainties.
Artificial intelligence (AI) continues to grow at a rapid pace, with automation and the Internet-of-Things (IoT) developing alongside it as well. Given time, these technologies have the capability to assist facility executives with their work. However, how this will all look and ultimately work out remains to be seen. Managers will need to keep abreast of the latest technological developments so they do not fall behind.
In addition, a new presidential administration creates even more unknowns for the likes of sustainability and decarbonization efforts. This also means regulations and incentives implemented by the outgoing administration remain in question for now. Nothing is set in stone, though, so facility managers will need to stay patient.
For this 2025 facility trends eBook, we have gathered five of our Facility Influencers to get their perspectives and thoughts on how the industry will change in the new year.
