The most successful teams are more diverse in terms of ethnicity, religion, gender identity, disability, and other factors. For a variety of reasons, facility leaders should actively work to create a culture of inclusivity and equity in their team and organization, from hiring, to onboarding. But moving beyond check boxes to real equity requires facility managers to take a long hard look at their own practices, and be open to listening to and learning from their team.
Our panel will provide practical advice, drawn from the experiences of facility departments, about diversity, inclusion, and equity, including recruiting from a wider pool of candidates, understanding invisible barriers to authentic inclusion, and why this current moment of social justice reform is a critical juncture for their department.
