Typically, energy costs are one of the top expense line items in any facility’s budget. Many buildings are currently looking to reduce operating costs and support increasing sustainability goals through net-zero strategies. Join us for this virtual conference as we review net-zero strategies to help reduce energy consumption.
The Energy Efficiency/Net-Zero Facilities Summit takes place Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 1-3 p.m. ET.
The event will feature two online sessions.
Session 1: Filling in the Gaps with Retro-Commissioning (RCx)
Operational building efficiency often takes a backseat within the existing suite of popular green building certification programs. The industry has become accustomed to bundling waste, water, energy, and wellness metrics, packaging it all together into an advanced reporting framework. These programs can be inherently passive, unable to quickly address opportunities for improved building efficiency. Retro-commissioning (RCx) and similar programs fill this gap by quickly identifying and implementing cost-effective energy efficiency measures, resulting in immediate and quantifiable impacts.
Matthew Zweibruck, energy engineer for Energy + Eco will discuss how implementing RCx or adjacent programs ensures a wholistic approach to building efficiency. He will also review common RCx measure types and benefits.
Session 2: Building Zero-Carbon Futures: Codes and Standards
Buildings are key to achieving net-zero carbon emissions. In this session, Marshall Duer-Balkind, the director of policy programs at the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT), will elaborate on this crucial topic. With his extensive expertise, Duer-Balkind will delve into the impact of improved energy codes and existing building performance standards on the journey towards zero-carbon buildings, as well as their influence on day-to-day operations.
