The Importance of Training and Recognizing Your Team

With new job candidates scarce, it’s critical to teach and retain the staff members you currently have



The facility management environment has changed dramatically over the past year and while we still are uncertain about what the world of work landscape will look like as companies begin to regroup, we do know that most FM organizations will function like their counterparts through a hybrid mix of in-house and virtual work.

The value of training our staff takes on a whole new meaning in this environment. With overall workforce statistics indicating that the available pool of potential new staff will be at one of the lowest levels it has even been, understanding skills gaps within an existing FM workforce and developing a training plan to accommodate them should be a significant priority for senior management.

Similarly, retaining and stimulating existing FM staff also becomes a paramount issue. Senior FM executives must identify and create ways to recognize their teams both in the virtual and on-site workplace.
