The National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association (NTMA) has announced a call for entries for the annual 2008 Honor Awards.

These awards are intended to honor the best terrazzo installations completed within the calendar year (2007) and are judged on excellence in craftsmanship; originality of ideas; intricacy of design; artistic and faithful reproduction of the architects' or designers' drawings; scope of work; and quality of construction materials.

Architects, designers, building owners and others are eligible to submit entries, but a NTMA member contractor must have completed the terrazzo floor.

Award-winning jobs have ranged from Art in Public Places projects, to large utilitarian installations, to renovations of existing terrazzo. The 2008 honor awards will also note those installations that contributed to a LEED certification for the building in which they were installed.

Examples of previous Honor Award-winning jobs can be found on NTMA's Web site.
