A Chinese brand combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector sold exclusively on Amazon is being recalled due to a defect which causes them to fail to activate in the event of a fire.
The recall affects CHZHVAN brand combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors with model number JKD-512.
If facility managers purchased one of the defective combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, the Consumer Product Safety Commission's recall notice instructs them to contact the manufacturer for a refund. The manufacturer’s name, and this is not a misprint, is Haikouhuidishangmaoyouxiangongsi.
There have been five incidents so far of the combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors failing to activate during a fire. No injuries have been reported.
