The 21st annual National Facilities Management & Technology (NFMT) Conference and Expo was the center of the facility management universe in late March when more than 2,000 facilities professionals from 46 states and eight countries gathered at the Baltimore Convention Center to learn, network and check out the newest products and services.

NFMT 2023 offered attendees more than 75 educational sessions, an expo hall with 325 exhibitors and networking opportunities each of the show’s three days.

Robert Kleimenhagen Jr., Director of Physical Plant at George School, attended NFMT 2023 and attends the event almost every year.

“It’s a fantastic value. It gives me the biggest bang for the buck,” he says. “The speakers and exhibitors are almost the same as at other shows like IFMA’s, but my cost to attend is hundreds less. Plus, the schedule is perfect. I’m done by 6 p.m. so I can go out with people I’ve met at the show.”

New to NFMT this year was a general session where Fortune 50 consultant and author Mike Evans delivered an inspirational presentation “Whatever it Takes: How FMs Can Lead through Disruption and Achieve with Accountability” to a standing-room only audience.

“Mike Evans gave us much to think about to avoid negative results of complacency as individuals, our departments and our organizations. I also loved his guidance for all employees to be able to quickly articulate our organizations overt benefits and dramatic difference from others, as a way to stand out in the ‘sea of sameness,’” says Beth Fasching, director at NextUp in Chicago.

With more than 300 companies exhibiting the latest products, NFMT’s expo hall was a big draw.

“I come to NFMT to see the latest and greatest and this changes every year. One year it might be waterless urinals. The next year it’s technology for irrigation systems,” says Harriett McGraw, Director at Blackrock. “At NFMT I can see what’s new and what’s smart all in one place.”

The next NFMT event scheduled in 2023 is NFMT Remix. The conference and expo will be held October 25-26 in Orlando, Florida. Information can be found at nfmt.com/remix.
