LaGuardia Airport Completes $4 Billion Renovation
February 14, 2022
New York City is celebrating the completion of a $4 billion overhaul of a passenger terminal at one of the country’s busiest airports, LaGuardia.
Terminal B’s renovation includes a second skybridge to improve movement through concourses, 35 gates, a new parking garage, and improved amenities, according to a CNN travel article.
With completion of the new, 482-foot long western skybridge, developers say that LaGuardia is the first airport in the world with dual skybridges.
The next step in the project includes demolition of the original terminal building, which will allow for aircraft to taxi under the new skybridge and add two miles of taxi-way space to the airport. The remodel also provides passengers moving through the airport views of the Manhattan skyline and will eventually include a restaurant and outdoor terrace.
Major work projects continue at LaGuardia. Terminal C is undergoing a $4 billion project of its own that’s expected to be completed later this spring.
