Facility managers are prepared for the usual suspects — birds, insects and rodents — when it comes to pest management in and around institutional and commercial facilities. But few, if any, preparations cover the arrival of a moose.
Wise Physical Therapy in Anchorage, Alaska, faced that crisis recently when a moose walked into its lobby, munched on some plants and walked out, according to KTUU. The moose entered the building after an automatic door got stuck open because of cold temperatures, says Kjerstin Lastufk, a hospital spokesperson.
Lastufka says that lobby plants are visible from the outside might have attracted the animal. The moose grazed inside for about 10 minutes before leaving on its own. A staffer quickly closed the door behind the moose, which appeared to be pregnant and still was roaming the parking lot later in the afternoon.
